Champanshype is a prolific winner, having won 8 of his 24 starts under rules. Having won six handicap hurdles, he won on chasing debut in impressive fashion last summer. However, he rather scared himself over fences, and although placed on his next two starts, he didn't look a natural chaser. Back over hurdles he was a good 2nd off a mark of 137 at the end of last season. He always needs his first run of the summer, and he did again this year at Cheltenham, and he looked back in form when 2nd over an inadequate trip at Newton Abbot in May. He didn't really handle the track at Hexham last time out, but the handicapper is giving him a chance again, so I could see a big run again here from him.
