Sanitiser has been running well over hurdles. Freddie had a ride on him at Fontwell last time and that should stand them in good stead in this conditional riders' race. He's overdue a first jumps win.

Climbing was placed over hurdles but he jumps fences well and was a good 2nd on his chasing debut and 3rd on his next start. He disappointed last time when seeming not to handle the undulations of Sedgefield. Back on a more conventional circuit, he should have his chance again.

Hurricane Pat, our other runner, has experience from two second places in Irish point-to-points. This looks potentially a decent bumper so we'll be hoping for a prominent showing for our pair.

Two also in this. Edward Sexton, who makes his debut, is by Jukebox Jury out of a mare who won her three races, two bumpers and a Grade 3 hurdle, all in Ireland. Edward Sexton is her first foal to run and owner-tbreeder David Dunsdon has the ride. 

Officer Of State is rated 83 on the flat based on his decent French form. His three hurdle runs in competitive novice races last season for us have brought a hurdles mark of 97. He could be well in or conversely very badly handicapped on the flat. We'll find out more this afternoon!

We run two in this handicap hurdle. Mark Of Gold tops the weights. If he could recapture the form of his Kempton success in February, he would probably figure, but he ended last season disappointingly and has it to prove again here.

If Cerulean Summer could get away with losing five lengths at the start rather than 100 yards then she would have a chance as was the case two runs back when she came through to win. Her best chance is if they go hard - as long as she stays in touch. Again not one…

Queen's Company comes here in good form. The step up in trip should be fine as she looks as though she needs further as she matures. She has plenty of weight but hopefully, has another each-way chance.

Kotmask joins Isssar d'Airy in this. Like his stable-mate, he enjoyed a good season winning three times, again with the inevitable sanction. We're hoping for a nice start from both of them.

Issar d'Airy started last season with a couple of nice handicap chase wins around Newbury, but the handicapper took stern revenge. He struggled in his only two subsequent runs and remains high in the ratings. Tough comeback assignment, but we're taking off 5lb which should help.

Just King High is my best runner tonight. He didn't quite get home over 6f at Goodwood last time but this flat 5f should be right up his street.

This French-bred and originally trained gelding was placed in three bumpers before winning one as a 4yo. He was then 2nd in two novice hurdles, at Nantes and Fontainebleau respectively. The strapping Fresh Perspective has a smart Juddmonte flat pedigree. He won an English point-to-point when trained by Will Biddick and came to us highly recommended by him. He works well at home and shouldn't be far away here.

Running Queen has been off for a while and I would have preferred to get a run into her first and that the ground could have had a bit more give. But she had very good form early in the season and I'm hopeful she has a nice each-way chance this afternoon.

Apple's Angel will find things easier now she is handicapping but her wide draw here is no help. She has ability and is sure to find her races so could easily spring a surprise if things went smoothly for her. 

The Cokorico gelding Cinquenta was top lot in the Tatts May store sale in the summer of 2023 and was in pre-training last season in Ireland. He excelled in a couple of schooling races and looks another really smart recruit to the yard. This looks a deep race but he could be quite special.

Icare Grandchamp put in a thoroughly professional performance to open his account in a similar race at Newton Abbot. This contest is a bit deeper but now Icare has got his head in front, we think he might be capable of a bit more. We reckon he can manage the very fair 3lb rise in…

Give It To Me Oj has shown plenty of ability in his starts on the flat and starts hurdling in what looks a run-of-the-mill juvenile hurdle. He has shown promise in his schools and we're hopeful he can make a good beginning to his new career.

Cresta Cat came from out of nowhere to win at 66/1 a week ago after doing most things wrong through his race at Brighton.  We explained the performance afterwards by suggesting it was a weak race and that he handled the ground. Conditions will be similar but now he'll be the one getting shot at!
