trainers quotes

"Majestic Myles - Looks a tough little claimer with Zaeem and Fort Bastion looking the ones to beat on these terms, but they are probably in this grade for a reason and these races don't always pan out as the weights suggest. Our horse has a bit to find, but at least we get a bit of weight too. First run here at Chelmsford but expected to suit and well drawn in 3. Bit to prove over this mile trip, but he's not tried it many times. The horses are going better now so that also gives us encouragement and this fella seems well at home. Probably not the best betting race, but each-way claims in a tricky affair."
Lee Carter

22/10/16 3rd 13/2

"Bassarabad - Our final runner on the card and another with a decent-looking chance - probably my best on the day! Sporting the first-time visor to keep his mind on the job and was a decent fourth at the track here back in May. Yet to win a race and comes here off a 6 month break, but the horse is well and George's 8lb claim a further plus. Doesn't look the best of races so that helps too - hoping for a big run."
Tim Vaughan

22/10/16 1st 15/8

"Nuclear Power - Very unlucky in running at Newmarket last time as he got stopped twice but still ran on to finish 5th, if he stays the 6 furlongs he should have a great chance."
William Muir

22/10/16 3rd 6/1

"Mezzotint - Loves it here at Chelmsford. Got shuffled back last time out here when fifth of 13, so still did well to finish where he did. Race clearly didn't suit, but down a pound for that, plus a good draw (1) here. So with a bit more luck in-running then we think a top three finish is certainly on the cards here today - anything else a plus."
Lee Carter

20/10/16 2nd 9/1

"Fotune Of War - The horse is in good order after her run a few weeks ago here. Was a solid third that day and if running that that level should not be far away again. The Cumani and Hannon horses are feared, but we are hoping to get that all-important win next to her name before the sales next Tuesday at Tatts!"
Jane Chapple-Hyam

20/10/16 3rd 8/1

"Knights Reward - Gets in here off a light weight and this is more his grade. Won a bumper back in Oct 14 so knows how to get his head in front and with the horses going well and in this very poor race we look to have a great chance - especially dropped 6lbs from last time too. Looks our best chance on the day."
Tim Vaughan

20/10/16 3rd 9/2

"Today Please - The Brian Ellison horse might be hard to beat, but we head here with place claims. The horse is well and will have the track and ground in his favour. Was a nice winner last time at Worcester back in June - had a nice break since and despite being up 6lbs here we think he's an each-way price with not much depth in the race outside the first two in the market."
Henry Oliver

20/10/16 3rd 10/1

"Brave Encounter - Won nicely the last day at Fontwell and should have every chance again today in this grade off just 7lbs higher. He's fit and well, so touch wood for a bit of luck in-running then hopeful we can go close here with the horses running well at the moment. "
Jamie Snowden

20/10/16 1st 5/2

"Munsarim - Certainly more than capable of winning this - and with ease. But an old pro these days and it's hard to know what horse will turn up on the day. If he breaks well and travels then we think he'll win as loves it here and on these terms and in this class would be the one to beat. Draw 14 not great, but will be ridden dropped-in to come with a run anyway. Might be an in-running bet as we'll know if he's in the mood once the gates open!"
Lee Carter

19/10/16 1st 12/1

"Finelcity - Looks our better chance on the day and heads here on a three-timer after wins at the course. Up another 7lbs here makes life a lot harder but we think the return to 7f is a positive as he just held on over a mile last time. Jim Crowley an obvious plus in the saddle too and the horse seems well after 5 weeks off. Everything in his favour so expected to go well, with the only concern the 7lb rise in the ratings - each-way claims."

“Could you thank Scott Dixon for being so honest with Sir Geoffrey (W5/1) it has just paid for my Christmas!” - Dave W

“I enjoy reading the e-mails each day and getting the trainers thoughts.  I have been keeping my punting to the 4 & 5* advices for now. Today I read the thoughts of Jamie Snowden on Lucy's Girl - but then looked at the race - rank outsider of 4 runners - never have picked that myself in a month of Sundays - but the trainer was confident so put on a tenner at BFSP - happy days with a return of 36/1. The fee is a small price to pay for such inside info”. Ian S
